5 Reasons You Should Set Up A Blog

Today, while on facebook, I was asked by a Computer and Networking Engineer who said he had tried to make money online with blog but had to quit when he was not making money from it. This is many newbie bloggers as well as those who are already blogging without focus are facing. They do not understand why they are blogging or are just blogging for money.

Continuing this series on How to start a Blogging Business From The Scratch, Iam going to address the reasons why you should blog. You will need to consider these reasons to make success.
Why did I decide to write on the reasons for your blogging rather than going ahead to show you how to set up a blog and start making money with it? It is deliberate. And the simple reason is that you will not make success in your blogging career if you start with just the fundamental reason of making money. You see, most people start blogging with emotional attachment rather than the passion, expertise, hobby or love for what they want to do. In the same vein, most people start blogging and fail, because they think they do not know how to write and also feel that blogging involves only writing. It is more than this. Knowing that you can become a full or part time blogger and resolving which to be coupled with the following reasons for blogging will go a long way in boosting the success or failure of your blog.

I have made these reasons based on my experience and that of others. There will definitely be more and I will keep updating it. Never start blogging without putting these reasons in plain paper and considering which reasons will make you blog.

Is Blogging Right For Me ? Should I blog or Not? What area Should I blog About?

1. You want to Write a Book: If you are like me who got an insight into writing while in High School, and started publishing small books in the University and took it as profession now, then writing a blog is one of the best ways to start a book. After writing series of blog post where your readers are reading with every likeness and it helps them with solutions to whatever your articles are meant to solve, then you can blog.

Truth is that your readers would like to have your blog articles in an ebook or printed book format.
This is exactly what happened with a How To Blog called eHow. eHow was later to turn thousands of blog post into a printed book format and started making money from their blog content.
If you intend to write a book latter, then writing them as blog post over time and converting them to ebook or printed book which your readers would like to have handy would be a good reason for starting a blog.

2. You Love writing: If you have flare for writing, or love writing to express yourself and have others read what you have written, then blogging is good for you. Blogging goes beyond just writing but loving it. This is because it involves you writing your content and posting on your blog, posting content on other people’s blog as well as article directories as well as adding comments on other blogs.

3. You Want To Communicate To Others: Yes, blogging is communication. Blogging involves the blogger (one who blogs or post on blogs) and the readers who read on the bloggers Blog or blogosphere. If you have an idea, information or advise, and would like others who are a target audience to have it, you can do this easily with blogs. The blogging platform is a global informational platform and easy to reach with just the internet technology. Therefore, it is your great tool for communication.

4. You Want To Entertain: Yes, blogging involves entertainment. Depending on what kind of blogging you are doing, you can start blogging to entertain a target audience too. You can entertain through video blogging, music blogging or creative writing.

5. You Want to Make Money: You see, I decided to write this reason as the last. I know you were expecting to see this as the first reason you should blog. Most people fail from blogging business because the consider this reason as the first and only. Money comes from blogging activities as blogs don’t make money on their on.

Blogging to make money should come after considering the four reasons above. Most bloggers are ready to blog on anything for money, therefore, get frustrated. In blogging for money, your blog must have good content, not copied but SEO original contents, If you are blogging for money with the right content and other reasons, you must also have a great money making idea and blueprint to be able to make money from your blog. You must be ready to have short and long term plans and goals to achieve making money on your blog.

Conclusion: Blogging is easy. Blogging pay my bills aside my book and magazine publishing business. But it is more than just setting up sites. My mail box is filled with several request on the issue of blogging. Some people have blogs which are mere glorified web blogs. They are not having the right traffic and so the blogs don’t make money.

If you can get it right and take your blog as a business, and you are ready to take it one step after the other and see yourself grow, you will soon become a successful blogger. I also urge you not to be deterred or discouraged. You will get there. Most successful bloggers have gone through some of these stages, therefore you are not alone. But I advise that you should have a focused mind and goal coupled with perseverance and see yourself getting there.
